A London cinema which hosted the U.K.'s first ever public film screening is set to be restored to its former glory. The Regent Street Cinema hosted a picture show by the Lumiere brothers in 1896 and is hailed as the birthplace of British cinema. It has been closed as a commercial cinema since 1980.
