The 29 year old stars in an updated version of Patrick Swayze's 1984 original, which tells the story of a group of high school students defending themselves from an international invasion and was due to hit cinemas in 2010.

The project was put on hold when the studio behind the film, MGM, fell into financial difficulty, but will finally be released this month (Nov12).

Palicki was previously left disappointed when TV bosses axed her Wonder Woman show, so she feels grateful that audiences will be able to see her on screen in Red Dawn.

She tells the New York Daily News, "I learned a long time ago: Don't get excited 'until'. Until you're on the set, until the show is picked up, until they've screened the movie. I was so proud of this film. I was devastated when it didn't come out when it was supposed to. But hey, we're actors. It's part of the game. You have no control."

Another of Palicki's big screen projects - G.I. Joe: Retaliation - has also been hit with delays. The sequel to G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra was pushed by back nine months to a March (13) release date.
