Ex-Beatle Paul McCartney and his girlfriend Heather Mills have launched a new campaign to get rid of land mines worldwide. The charity, uniquely named Adopt-A-Minefield, will raise funds for mine clearance and mine survivors. According to Reuters, as many as 60 million land mines may still be buried in 70 countries. Nearly one third of the estimated 26, 000 people injured each year are children. The late Princess Diana brought the cause to light in 1997, and Mills told Reuters there is still more that needs to be done.
