Some of the media outlets contacted by Davis were The Globe, The Los Angeles Times, Fox News, KNBC, CNN, Howard Stern, Playboy, Hustler and the E! Network, said Bertram Fields of Greenberg Glusker Fields Claman Machtinger & Kinsella, the law firm representing Cruise.
The suit accuses Davis of spreading the statements "in order to hurt the plaintiff and to gain widespread publicity for himself." According to the suit, Cruise said the claims were "unequivocally false" since he has never had a homosexual relationship and no such tape exists.
"The false and defamatory assertions transmitted by Davis were calculated to cause plaintiff harm both personally and professionally," says the three-page lawsuit.
On May 2, Cruise filed a $100 million lawsuit against Kyle Bradford, who told the French magazine Acustar about a homosexual affair he had with Cruise that was discovered by Kidman, leading to their divorce in February.
