Napster signs deal with European labels

Napster has signed a licensing deal with 150 independent European labels to provide music for its new subscription service due to launch this summer. Artists such as Tom Jones, Ash, Badly Drawn Boy and Stereophonics will join other artists from U.S. major labels BMG, EMI, and AOL Time Warner on the new royalty paid Napster service. According to Reuters, a federal appeal court also rejected Napster's request to challenge music industry against Napster's song-swapping service.
