The producer of Xena: Warrior Princess says killing off Xena was the most appropriate way to end the show, according to the New York Post. Rob Tapert, who is married to the show's star Lucy Lawless, said that the finale was based on where the series started. In the storyline, Xena faced off against a powerful demon who could only be defeated by another immortal of the same strength. In order to vanquish her enemy, Xena had to die. Eventually, she died battling an army of Asian warriors and was ultimately beheaded by a samurai. Tapert is not worried about the franchise ending since Xena has died in the series an estimated five times before the finale.
