Italian police, who last month raided the headquarters of Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi's Mediaset empire in Milan, charged into homes and businesses of film industry magnate Vittorio Cecchi Gori in Florence and Rome Thursday. Cecchi Gori, the producer of the Oscar-winning Life Is Beautiful, is reportedly under investigation for money laundering. Reporting on the latest raid, Britain's Guardian, newspaper observed that police who raided the offices of the Cecchi Gori Group in Rome "were afforded glimpses of Mr. Cecchi Gori's taste in overblown Baroque decor: ubiquitous gilt, velvet, winged cherubs and purple."
