Regis Philbin claims that no one has approached him about hosting the syndicated version of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire. "I haven't heard a word from anybody," Philbin told Tuesday's New York Post. He also claimed that he did not "know where the network version [of Millionaire] is going." In fact, ABC executives told the TV critics summer tour in Pasadena on Sunday that Millionaire will be cut to two nights a week beginning next season, which would free up time for Philbin to host the syndicated version. Analysts have noted, however, that ABC execs may prefer to have a different host front the syndicated version, since it will be carried in most major markets by CBS-owned stations.
