Bradley Cooper and Kate Hudson handed the shocked star the accolade for his work as Dr. King Schultz in Quentin Tarantino's controversial new Western, which also features the Leonardo DiCaprio and Jamie Foxx.
Accepting the night's first prize, he said, "Thank you so much... It's extraordinary. Quentin you know that my indebtedness to you and my gratitude knows no words. You entrusted me with this character and you took me on this journey."
The 70th annual Golden Globe Awards, hosted by Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, are underway at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles.
