The Internet activist had been charged with 13 counts of wire and computer fraud, among others, after allegedly hacking into a digital archive at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and obtaining thousands of articles.

Swartz was due to stand trial in Boston in April (13), but on Monday (14Jan13) the case was dismissed by federal prosecutors after he committed suicide at his New York apartment on Friday, according to the Associated Press.

He was 26.
