Batman star Michael Keaton is at the centre of a new Hollywood legal spat after producers of festive film The Merry Gentleman filed suit against the actor for wrecking their plans to promote the movie. Executives at Merry Gentleman, LLC have filed documents in Illinois, claiming Keaton, who was attached to direct and star in the film, sabotaged the project, telling the producers his first cut was poor quality and then proceeding to badmouth the movie on TV. In the legal papers, obtained by TMZ.com, the producers also claim they built an editing facility for Keaton in California only for the actor to inform them that he wanted to work on the project in Montana during a fly-fishing trip. The film bombed at the box office, making less than $350,000 (GBP219,000), and producers are holding Keaton responsible. They are suing him for unspecified damages.
