Veteran Australian entertainer Rolf Harris has been arrested and questioned by police as part of the ongoing sex abuse investigation surrounding late U.K. TV and radio star Sir Jimmy Savile. The 83 year old was interviewed by cops in London in November (12) and later formally arrested on 28 March (13), two days before his 83rd birthday on 30 March (13), before being released on bail. Harris was not officially named by police at the time of his arrest, but his inclusion in the investigation was made public by Britain's The Sun newspaper on Friday (19Apr13). A statement from Scotland Yard police chiefs, released at the time of Harris' arrest, reads, "An 82-year-old man (sic) from Berkshire (England) was arrested by officers on Operation Yewtree on suspicion of sexual offences. He has been bailed to a date in May pending further enquiries." Harris' arrest is not believed to be linked to late TV/radio host Savile, who was unmasked as a serial paedophile last year (12), but the probe falls under the wider Operation Yewtree investigation which was sparked by the initial allegations against Savile. Others to have been questioned in connection with the investigation include comedians Freddie Starr and Jim Davidson, DJ Dave Lee Travis and fallen rocker Gary Glitter.
