Director Meera Menon has picked up the inaugural Nora Ephron Prize at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York. Menon was selected for work and talent that "embody the spirit and vision" of Ephron, who lost her cancer battle last year (12). The director is making her feature film debut at Tribeca with Farah Goes Bang, which follows an awkward twenty-something who is trying to lose her virginity while campaigning for U.S. presidential hopeful John Kerry all over America in 2004. Meron says, "As a filmmaker I had always been inspired by Nora, she emblematised how to take pain and suffering and turn them into laughter and joy. Those qualities inspired me and my co-filmmakers. Receiving this incredible honour in her name means more than I could ever articulate."
