Duff Mckagan, Nikki Sixx and Pete Wentz are among the stars who have paid tribute to Jeff Hanneman following his death on Thursday (02May13). The Slayer guitarist and founding member passed away at a hospital in California after suffering liver failure at the age of 49, and his musical peers have taken to Twitter.com to pay their respects. Motley Crue bassist Sixx writes in a post, "My condolences to his family, the band and all his friends and fans", while Wentz adds, "Rest in peace Jeff Hanneman. (1991 Slayer album) Decade of Aggression is the first cd I ever bought with my own money. Sad day." Blink-182 star Travis Barker mourns, "The world lost a legend today", McKagan laments, "I'm so very soory (sic) for your loss Hanneman family" and singer/songwriter Andrew WK observes, "Jeff Hanneman will always be a metal god. A true master, he gave energy and excitement to millions, and will continue to." A post on Nickelback's Twitter page reads, "Jeff Hanneman was an amazing guitar player - all 4 of us grew up listening to Slayer. He will be greatly missed by all." Elijah Wood and Zakk Wylde also posted their condolences on the site.
