Troubled actress Lindsay Lohan has checked in to the famed Betty Ford Center to begin her court-ordered course of rehab. The Mean Girls star was rumoured to have risked arrest again by failing to enter a treatment program before the agreed deadline on Thursday (02May13) after she left a medical unit in Newport Beach, California within an hour of arriving. However, editors at TMZ.com report Lohan swiftly headed to the Betty Ford clinic in nearby Rancho Mirage to register as a patient after her lawyer negotiated with court officials to switch the agreed venue of her 90-day treatment. Lohan's father has confirmed the actress is now in rehab, but refused to name the facility she picked, telling the New York Daily News, "I just found out she's okay. According to the judge and the city attorney's orders, Lindsay has checked into rehab. I will not and can not disclose where." The actress was ordered to undergo rehab after pleading no contest to charges stemming from a car crash in California last summer (12). The punishment was handed out in lieu of a jail sentence. It is not Lohan's first stay at the Betty Ford clinic - in 2010 she spent time at the unit for court-ordered treatment after violating her probation stemming from a DUI arrest. On that occasion her troubles mounted when she was later hit with a lawsuit by a member of staff who alleged Lohan had assaulted her. She later settled the case out of court.
