Kiss rockers Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley have launched their third Rock & Brews restaurant by serving up meals to 100 U.S. military veterans. The stars opened the latest addition to their bar venture in Torrance, California on Thursday (09May13) and welcomed former servicemen and women to a special luncheon in their honour as the bandmates personally brought out food for the soldiers. The musicians hosted an opening gala later that night and performed a brief three-song set at the bash, which raised funds for local schools. They then presented a $25,000 (£16,129) cheque to Tom Brewer, the president of the Torrance Education Foundation. Celebrating the growing success of the chain, Stanley says, "We are spreading our tentacles! It's a family friendly place where you don't have to compromise your palate. Most of the time when you bring your kids to a restaurant, you are eating cardboard pizza or dried out macaroni and cheese. This is really your place where you can hang out, choose from one of our 80 craft beers, hear quality rock music and have a great night with your friends." The first Rock & Brews venue opened in El Segundo, California, last year (12), while a second was unveiled in Los Cabos, Mexico in March (13). Simmons and Stanley have also announced plans to launch eateries in Hawaii and Missouri over the next 12 months, in addition to one at Los Angeles International Airport.
