Rapper Aggro Santos has opened up about the ordeal he faced after he was accused of rape, comparing his two-year fight for justice to life "in a mental prison". The Candy hitmaker, real name Yuri Santos, was arrested in Chichester, England in May 2011 as cops investigated claims a woman was assaulted in a hotel room, and he was subsequently accused of involvement in another incident in Somerset, England the previous September (10). After two trials, Santos was cleared of two counts of rape earlier this month (May13), and he spoke publicly about his ordeal for the first time on Monday (13May13). In an interview with Britain's Daybreak TV show, he says, "It's definitely one of the hardest things I've ever had to go through. I mean it's been one of those things where for 23 months, I feel like I've been stuck in a mental prison. It goes by so slow and then when it's over... I dont think it's even sunk in yet. Its one of those things, it just feels so surreal. "You can work so hard your whole life for something and then when it starts going well, one little thing like this, in just one second it's all gone." Santos has also called for a new law to protect the identity of those accused of sex crimes, adding, "I think that someone has got to do something about an anonymity law... I think the people accused have got to be protected until they are found guilty. I went through the whole trial system, I was acquitted but it doesn't change, it was reported, it's still there. "I think it definitely tarnishes your reputation because surely there's always gonna (sic) be people out there who are gonna wonder, 'Why would people say that? (if it wasn't true)'."
