Dame Helen Mirren made amends with a group of drummers she berated for disrupting her performance in The Audience earlier this month (May13) by watching them perform at a London festival on Sunday (26May13). The veteran actress stormed out of the city's Gielgud Theatre during the interval of her hit play to reprimand the Batala London samba band, who were performing outside the venue to promote the As One In The Park gay rights festival. Mirren, who was still dressed in character as Britain's Queen Elizabeth II during the outburst, demanded they stop - but she later showed support for their cause by sporting a homemade T-shirt publicising the event's name, venue and date in large black letters. And on Sunday, the star headed to London's Victoria Park to take in the As One In The Park event with her moviemaker husband Taylor Hackford. According to Britain's The Sun, Mirren told the band, "I said I'd be here and here I am. A Dame always keeps her word." Band member John Rowlands adds, "She was really sweet. She loves us and she loves the drumming. Just not outside her theatre."
