Madonna is helping to spread the message of female empowerment by joining Beyonce and Jennifer Lopez on the bill for a charity concert in London this weekend (01Jun13). The Material Girl will serve as a presenter at the Sound of Change Live mega gig, which will be headlined by the Crazy In Love superstar and feature performances by Lopez, Florence + the Machine, Ellie Goulding, John Legend and Timbaland, among others. Prominent women's rights activist Gloria Steinem, human rights icon Archbishop Desmond Tutu, and Bollywood stars Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan have also signed up to make appearances during the four-hour show to highlight women's issues around the globe, and Madonna didn't hesitate to lend her support to the event. A statement issued to Reuters reads: "Sixty percent of the children in the world not in school are girls. Two-thirds of the world's illiterate are women. I do not accept this. We need to change this and we will change this." The benefit concert, organised by bosses at Chime For Change, a women's campaign group founded by executives at Italian fashion house Gucci, is set to be broadcast live from Twickenham Stadium to more than 150 countries.
