Kevin Clash's lawyer seeks to have sex lawsuits dismissed

A lawyer for actor Kevin Clash has asked a New York judge to dismiss three underage sex complaints filed against the former Sesame Street puppeteer. The disgraced voice of Elmo resigned from the hit children's programme in November (12) after two plaintiffs filed legal action claiming they had engaged in sexual activities with Clash while under the age of consent. Another two came forward following his departure from Sesame Street, although one man has since recanted his story and voluntarily dropped the suit. Clash's lawyer appealed to Manhattan federal Judge John Koeltl on Thursday (30May13) to throw out the remaining three suits as they are barred by the statute of limitations, which gives alleged sex crime victims three years to file once they turn 18 - a deadline all plaintiffs failed to meet, reports the New York Post. Judge Koeltl also heard arguments from a legal representative for the accusers. He chose to reserve judgement on the motion to dismiss until a later date.
