British singer Tom Odell's first U.S. tour was nearly derailed after a truck carrying his instruments blew up. The songwriter has spent the last few weeks on the road, but his trek across America hit a major snag shortly before an important sold-out show at the Troubadour venue in Los Angeles last month (May13). Odell tells U.K. radio station Xfm, "We were travelling across from Chicago to Los Angeles in America and the bus blew up. It was pretty bad - we actually weren't on it - but we were waiting for the equipment and this poor guy, the bus driver, was driving from Chicago to L.A. and it's really far. We were waiting for the equipment and it blew up so all the equipment was stuck in the Nevada desert, the piano and everything."
