British actors Matthew Macfadyen and Stephen Mangan are heading to the London stage in an adaptation of classic British comedy Jeeves And Wooster. Hugh Laurie and Stephen Fry brought P.G. Wodehouse's aristocratic bachelor and loyal butler characters to life in the TV hit which ran in the U.K. from 1990 to 1993. Now Pride & Prejudice star Macfadyen will step into Fry's servant shoes to play Jeeves, while Episodes actor Mangan will tackle Laurie's role as Bertie Wooster in Perfect Nonsense. Mangan says, "I am ridiculously excited at the prospect of playing the mentally negligible Bertie Wooster on stage and can hardly wait to stagger into the glorious sunshine of Wodehouse's world. And with Jeeves, in the shape of Matthew Macfadyen by my side, what could possibly go wrong?" The play will hit the stage at London's Richmond Theatre in October (13), before heading to Brighton, England later that month.
