John Travolta lands Czech film festival honour

Actor John Travolta has been selected to receive a lifetime achievement award at the 2013 Karlovy Vary International Film Festival in the Czech Republic. The Pulp Fiction star will be presented with the prestigious Crystal Globe prize at the 48th annual festival, where he will also attend a gala screening of his upcoming thriller Killing Season. Czech actor Jiri Bartoska, the festival's president, says, "John Travolta is an artist of incredible versatile talent. Aside from extraordinary popularity, he has gained particular recognition with the industry's professional circles. His contribution to work cinema is unquestionable." Past winners of the trophy include Dame Judi Dench, Susan Sarandon, Robert Redford, Michael Douglas, and Robert De Niro - Travolta's co-star in Killing Season. It was previously announced that filmmaker Oliver Stone will also take home a Crystal Globe for Lifetime Achievement at this year's (13) festival, which runs from 28 June to 6 July (13).
