Thompson Square singer Keifer Thompson turned to fellow country stars Keith Urban and Gary Allan for advice after he was recently struck down with vocal problems. The husband and wife duo axed a string of concerts across May (13) and June (13) to allow Thompson time to recover from a "very serious vocal condition", which he now reveals was caused by a haemorrhage. He tells Country Weekly, "I had a really bad haemorrhage, and it's completely healed, resolved and the polyp is about 70 per cent down, so they don't want to do surgery now." Thompson also heaped praise on singers Urban, Allan and Larry Gatlin, who have all experienced voice problems in the past and reached out to offer him reassurance during his recovery. Thompson adds, "(They) talked me off a ledge and told me that it was OK." The star has been banned from speaking for two weeks, and doctors have also taught him a new way of singing which will protect his vocal cords.
