Pop star Kylie Minogue is to be feted with a top honour in her native Australia in recognition of her lengthy career. The Spinning Around hitmaker will receive the 2013 JC Williamson Award, which is given to individuals who have "made an outstanding contribution to the Australian live entertainment and performing arts industry". Minogue says in a statement, "What an honour to be included in such incredibly talented and inspirational company. A moment like this makes me so proud to represent the Australian entertainment industry. As a country we have, and we nurture, extraordinary talent. Long may this continue!" Minogue will share the honour with arts philanthropist David Blenkinsop, and the pair will pick up their prizes at The Helpmann Awards at the Sydney Opera House in Sydney, Australia on 29 July (13). Previous recipients of the prize include Dame Joan Sutherland and Barry Humphries.
