Nashville star Connie Britton is releasing a T-shirt range to show her support for the women of Texas, where politicians are debating controversial legislation to ban abortion. The actress has teamed up with bosses at the Planned Parenthood Action Fund to release the special garments, emblazoned with the words What Would Tami Taylor Do? The phrase is a reference to Britton's character on her TV series Friday Night Lights, which was set in Texas and dealt with the subject of abortion. In a statement to USA Today, Britton says, "I have been inspired by how people around the country have united to stand with the women of Texas, and I can't help but think that, in this moment, we all have the opportunity to join with and become strong, powerful Texas men and women." The shirts, ranging from $22 (£14) to $32 (£21), are released as Texas officials consider a tough bill that would result in a large number of abortion clinics being shut down. The proposal was blocked last week (25Jun13) but Governor Rick Perry re-opened the debate in a special session on Monday (01Jul13).
