Songwriter Johnny MacRae dead at 84

Country music songwriter Johnny Macrae has died at his home in Tennessee, aged 84. MacRae, who wrote Conway Twitty’s I’d Love to Lay You Down and Reba McEntire’s You Lift Me Up to Heaven, among other hits, passed away on Wednesday (03Jul13) following a battle with heart disease.
His wife Mary tells CMT.com there will be no funeral, at MacRae’s request, but reveals she is planning a celebration of his life, set for October (13).
