British actor Jack O'connell has landed the lead role in Angelina Jolie's next film as a director. The Skins star will portray real-life World War II hero Lou Zamperini in the biopic Unbroken. The athlete, who competed at the 1936 Berlin Olympics, became a prisoner of war in 1943 when his U.S. Air Force plane crashed down in the Pacific and he was captured by Japanese soldiers behind enemy lines after spending over a month at sea without food or water. Filmmakers Ethan and Joel Coen have revamped the adaptation of Laura Hillenbrand's 2010 bestseller for Jolie to direct. The actress will also produce the film, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
