Veteran musician Nile Rodgers is launching a one-day music festival in New York to raise money for charity. The Chic star has teamed up with the All For The East End (AFTEE) organisation, a local charity dedicated to helping the community of Long Island's East End, to host the Nile Rodgers Dance Party on 19 August (13) in Riverhead, New York. Rodgers will perform with Chic during the event at Martha Clara Vineyards and money raised from ticket sales will go towards the AFTEE charity. In a post on his website, he writes, "For years I've dreamed of bringing a music festival to the New York City area - but wanted it to be accessible to everybody. A charity called AFTEE has given me that opportunity... There's going to be me, my band Chic, and some of the hottest acts and surprises on the planet that day... which happens to be around the time the next Daft Punk single drops (I'm just saying)." The blog post sparked a flurry of online rumours suggesting the festival would feature a surprise appearance by Rodgers' Get Lucky collaborators Daft Punk, prompting the guitarist to speak out in a bid to silence the gossip. He adds, "To be totally clear, Daft Punk is not playing at my charity event. In no way did I mean to imply what some press outlets have mistakenly interpreted from my blog post!"
