Rapper Lil Wayne has edited out footage of himself trampling on the American flag from his new music video after causing uproar with his antics during the shoot last month (Jun13). The hip-hop star came under fire for appearing to intentionally dance on the Star-Spangled Banner - America's symbol of independence - while filming the clip for God Bless Amerika in his native New Orleans, Louisiana. Critics were quick to point out that he had also broken the law under the United States Flag Code, which declares the nation's flag should never touch the ground or be stepped upon - although the rules are not widely enforced by authorities. Wayne defended his actions in a post on Twitter.com shortly after the controversy emerged, writing, "I didn't step on the flag on purpose! It's a scene in a video where the flag drops behind me and after it drop (sic) it's just there as I perform." However, the rapper has decided not to risk further criticism and has since cut that scene from the final version of the promo, which was released online on Monday (15Jul13).
