Liberace's former toyboy lover Scott Thorson has been sentenced to five years probation after pleading guilty to burglary and identity theft charges. The 53 year old, also known as Jess Marlow, was arrested by police in Reno, Nevada on 22 February (13) after he was caught paying for a room at the Ponderosa Hotel with a credit card that did not belong to him. He was charged with four counts of first-degree burglary, in addition to charges involving the possession and use of a credit, debit or ID card without the consent of the cardholder on four different occasions. Thorson, who was once the late showman's teenage toyboy, pleaded guilty to the charges at the Washoe County District Court and on Wednesday (17Jul13) he was sentenced to 60 months probation. Judge Patrick Flanagan also ordered the author, who was portrayed by Matt Damon in a TV movie adaptation of his book Behind the Candelabra: My Life with Liberace, to attend a substance abuse programme and submit to drug tests. Thorson originally faced up to 20 years behind bars, and his attorney, David Houston, tells local publication the Reno Gazette Journal, "I think the court handled it as well as I hoped they would." Thorson, who is fighting colon cancer, served time behind bars for his criminal actions earlier this year (13). He was released on 31 May (13).
