Troubled actress Amanda Bynes will remain on psychiatric hold for a further two weeks after a judge extended an emergency order on Thursday (25Jul13). Police in California took the Hairspray star into custody for an involuntary mental evaluation, also known as a 5150 hold, on Monday (22Jul13) after she allegedly tried to start a fire in a resident's driveway in Thousand Oaks, close to where her parents live. The 5150 order, which is the same hold Britney Spears was placed under after her infamous meltdown in 2008, allows authorities to keep a patient under surveillance for up to 72 hours, but on Thursday, a judge ruled it could be extended for a further two weeks in Bynes' case, according to TMZ.com. The website reports the hearing was held in the psychiatric hospital where the star has been confined. Bynes' lawyer was allegedly arguing the extension should be denied, while the 27 year old's parents, Lynn and Rick, asked doctors to recommend it was in the actress' best interest to remain in the facility, reports E! Online. The couple also filed court papers on Thursday asking for a judge to impose a conservatorship order on the troubled star, which could lead to them taking control of their daughter's financial and personal affairs. A hearing into the matter has been scheduled for Friday (26Jul13).
