Oscar winner Louis Gossett, Jr. is set to be honoured for his community work at R&B star Ne-Yo's New York charity benefit later this month (Aug13). The So Sick hitmaker will toast the achievements of the An Officer and a Gentleman actor as an adoptive parent and celebrate his work with inner city kids. Celebrity photographer Johnny Nunez, who grew up in foster care before being adopted at the age of five, will also be among the honourees at The Compound Foundation's second annual Fostering A Legacy event. A statement released by Ne-Yo reads, "I truly admire Louis Gossett Jr. for his bold initiative to adopt his son when he was in need. Johnny Nunez, who has been an advocate of our cause for years and Stuart Snyder, an active supporter of the foundation, are both well-respected individuals who we cannot thank enough. It is only right we honour these extraordinary men at this year's benefit." Comedian Kevin Hart will co-host the Hamptons event on 17 August (13), while British singer Estelle will perform for guests. Ne-Yo founded The Compound Foundation in 2007 to provide children in foster care and group homes the support needed to help them achieve their education and career dreams.
