Rockers Linkin Park surprised fans at a Japanese music and sports festival over the weekend (10-11Aug13) by joining forces with dance DJ Steve Aoki to debut an unlikely new collaboration. Both acts were on the bill for the Summer Sonic event in Tokyo, Japan on Saturday (10Aug13), with Linkin Park performing a hits-packed set earlier in the day. However, rapper Mike Shinoda hinted at a special second appearance by advising the crowd to check out Aoki's gig later on in the night, and he made good on the tip off by showing up on the Sonic stage with bandmate Chester Bennington as the DJ hit the decks, reports Billboard.com. They then launched into a performance of their new song, A Light That Never Comes, much to the audience's delight. Shinoda has since revealed the collaborative effort had been a long time coming, saying, "Steve and I met up like a year ago, maybe more. It happened pretty organically, just shooting ideas back and forth."
