R&B star Chris Brown is breathing a sigh of relief after a Los Angeles judge dismissed allegations of hit-and-run relating to a minor car accident in May (13). The Kiss Kiss hitmaker was accused of bumping into the back of Olga Gure-Kovalenko's car and reportedly driving off without providing the correct insurance details. That charge, and one for driving without a valid California licence, was dropped during a hearing last month (Jul13), leaving prosecutors with only the hit-and-run count to pursue, despite Gure-Kovalenko's refusal to press charges or take any civil action against Brown. The case returned to court on Thursday (15Aug13), but a judge rejected the Los Angeles City Attorney's arguments and dismissed the case altogether. Brown's lawyer, Mark Geragos, tells TMZ.com, "The case never should have been filed in the first place. It's unfortunate he was being prosecuted for who he is rather than what he's done." Authorities revoked Brown's probation relating to his 2009 assault of his then-girlfriend Rihanna on 15 July (13) as a result of the hit-and-run charge, but the status of his alleged violation will now be assessed during a separate hearing later this month (Aug13).
