Kick-Ass 2 hits top spot at U.K. box office

Superhero comedy Kick-Ass 2 has fought its way to the top spot at the U.K. box office chart. The film which features Aaron Taylor-Johnson as vigilante Dave Lizewski, secured first place after taking an impressive $3.9 million (£2.5 million) in its opening weekend (16-18Aug13). Kick-Ass 2 sprinted ahead of prime competition Planes, which came in in second place with $2.7 million (£1.7 million), and action movie 2 Guns, starring Denzel Washington and Mark Wahlberg, which accumulated $2.2 million (£1.4 million). The top five was rounded out by comedy sequel Grown Ups 2 ($1.7 million/£1.1 million) and creepy horror The Conjuring ($1.5 million/£973,073).
