Rock siblings Haim were invited to provide guest vocals on a song by their heroes Arctic Monkeys but were heartbroken when they had to turn down the offer in order to finish recording their debut album. The three sisters are massive fans of the British band and were stunned when they were given the chance to record backing vocals on the group's recent single Do I Wanna Know? The trio was desperate to join the Fluorescent Adolescent hitmakers in the studio, but had to take the agonising decision to snub the once-in-a-lifetime offer over fears their own album, Days Are Gone, would overrun as a result. Bassist Este Haim tells NME magazine, "We tried to push things around to make it work. But when it came down to it we had to finish our record. We didn't have enough time to come in and learn the harmonies. It would have taken a couple of days. "That would have been our biggest dream come true - to sing on an Arctic Monkeys record... It was one of the most painful calls to say no. Maybe the worst day of my life."
