British violinist Nigel Kennedy has avoided any police action after confessing he once talked a friend into voting in an election on behalf of his wife. The musician revealed last week (ends01Sep13) that in the 2010 U.K. general election, his wife was unable to cast her vote so he asked a pal to head to a polling booth in London on her behalf. Kennedy said the friend used his wife's voting card to enable him to fill out the ballot paper, and the admission could have got the star in trouble for electoral fraud. However, police have since confirmed they are unable to pursue action against Kennedy as all claims of electoral offences must be investigated within 12 months.
