The classic sportswear donned by late actor James Gandolfini in The Sopranos is to go up for auction on Wednesday (18Sep13). A black and white Fila sports suit, which was showcased by Gandolfini's mob boss character Tony Soprano in the hit series, is on sale and is expected to fetch at least $1,500 (£1,000). Other items from the set of the gangster classic include a black cashmere coat and a dress shirt Gandolfini wore in season four, which are expected to collect $1,200 (£800) together, and three casual shirts, which could sell for $400 (£266) each. Auctioneer Pete Siegel will be selling the items via New York-based online auction house GottaHaveIt.com, and the sale runs until 27 September (13). Seigel tells the New York Post, "It adds a lot... It wouldn't be the same if he had died, let's say, 20 years ago. People still remember him and remember vividly." Each item sold will come with a picture of Gandolfini sporting the clothes on the show.
