Jon Hamm's representative has played down the seriousness of the actor's upcoming throat surgery, insisting it is a "routine outpatient procedure". Reports about the actor's medical issue surfaced on Monday (23Sep13) after his Mad Men co-star January Jones was allegedly overheard talking about it at a post-Emmys party on Sunday night (22Sep13). According to sources, he will have two large polyps on his vocal cords removed during an operation in Boston, Massachusetts next month (Oct13). Hamm's spokesperson has since confirmed the 42 year old is booked in for surgery, but insists treatment for the condition, which has left him with a raspy voice, is not as bad as it sounds. The rep tells People.com, "He's having a single polyp removed from his throat." The actor will have plenty of time to recover from the simply surgery - the final seventh season of Mad Men is set to be split into two parts, and will return to U.S. TV screens next spring (14).
