Jailed Pussy Riot star Nadezhda Tolokonnikova has ended her hunger strike after nine days, according to Russian news reports. The punk rocker was moved to a prison hospital amid fears for her health at the weekend (27-29Sep13) after embarking on the hunger strike last week (23Sep13) as a protest about conditions at the penal colony, where she is currently serving a two-year sentence. Reports have since suggested Tolokonnikova is in a "satisfactory" condition, and she is eating again. She and two Pussy Riot bandmates - Maria Alekhina and Yekaterina Samutsevich - were jailed for two years last year (12) over a controversial protest against Russian President Vladimir Putin at a church in Moscow. Samutsevich was freed in October, 2012, when her sentence was commuted, and Tolokonnikova and Alekhina are due to be released in March (14).
