Three upcoming productions for the New York City Opera have been axed as officials move forward with bankruptcy proceedings. Bosses announced in September (13) that they desperately needed to raise $7 million (£4.67 million) by the end of the month to continue operating, but they failed to do so and are now preparing to "wind down" the company, according to spokeswoman Risa Heller. As a result, planned productions of Johann Christian Bach's Endimione, Bartok's Bluebeard's Castle and Mozart's Le Nozze di Figaro (The Marriage of Figaro) for later this year (13) have been scrapped.
