Pop star Selena Gomez suffered an awkward silence before a performance on live TV in America on Thursday (17Oct13) after sound problems blighted the start of her set. The singer hit the stage to showcase her new single Slow Down following an interview on talk show The View, but after almost making a false start on the track, she told the studio audience, "Just kidding." She then turned to her backing band and complained, "I can't hear... I can't hear myself." The 21 year old then attempted to fill the gap by engaging with a member of the crowd, seemingly unaware that she was still on air, prompting co-host Jenny McCarthy to rush out onstage and reveal they were cutting to a commercial break. Upon the show's return, McCarthy re-introduced Gomez by saying, "Sorry, we had some technical difficulties, but we're back." The star's appearance on the New York-based programme took place the morning after Gomez performed at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn and let the tears flow as she belted out her ballad, Love Will Remember, reportedly about her romance with ex-boyfriend Justin Bieber. She also cried openly when she sang the track on Tuesday night at her Stars Dance Tour stop in Buffalo, New York.
