Spanish crooner Manolo Escobar has died. He was 82. Escobar passed away at his home in the Spanish holiday resort on Benidorm on Thursday (24Oct13), according to the country's Culture Minister Jose Ignacio Wert. No cause of death has been released. He shot to fame with his own show, Canta Manolo Escobar (Manolo Escobar Sings) in the 1960s and will be best remembered in Europe for his rendition of iconic 1973 track Y Viva Espana, which went on to sell six million copies. Escobar released dozens of albums as well as starring in a string of Spanish-language films between 1963 and 1981.
