Russian punk rocker Nadezhda Tolokonnikova has reportedly been transferred to a new prison on Saturday (02Nov13). Officials with Russia's Federal Penitentiary Service have confirmed the Pussy Riot member has been moved to a new location and the announcement comes only a day after relatives of the star accused authorities of failing to update them about her whereabouts after transferring her to a new jail in October (13). Her father Andrei stated he had no idea where his daughter was being held after Tolokonnikova had her request to be moved out of the Mordovia detention centre approved on 18 October (13). Tolokonnikova and her bandmate Maria Alekhina were imprisoned last year (12), alongside fellow Pussy Riot member Yekaterina Samutsevich, over a controversial protest song they performed at a Moscow church, aimed at Russian President Vladimir Putin. Samutsevich was freed in October last year (12) when her sentence was commuted, and Tolokonnikova and Alekhina are set to be released in March (14).
