Actor Idris Elba has told of his terror after suffering an "overwhelming" asthma attack on a plane as he headed to the premiere of his new movie over the weekend (02-03Nov13). The Wire star was rushed to hospital from London's Heathrow Airport after suffering breathing difficulties on a jet bound for South Africa on Saturday (02Nov13). He was due in the country for the unveiling of his upcoming Nelson Mandela biopic on Sunday (03Nov13), and despite the severity of his condition, the British star was determined to join the Mandela family for the event in Johannesburg. The actor managed to catch a later flight to the city in time for the screening of Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom, and he recalled on the red carpet how his health woes terrified him. Elba says, "I've battled asthma most of my life and it just overwhelmingly took me down while I was on a plane. It was very scary."
