The hit West End musical based on Whitney Houston's movie The Bodyguard has had its run extended until next summer (14). The play, also called The Bodyguard, proved a hit with critics and fans alike when it opened in London last year (12) and now producers have announced plans to keep the show onstage until August (14). British R&B singer Beverley Knight currently stars in the role made famous by Houston, opposite Tristan Gemmill as her bodyguard, which was portrayed in the 1992 movie by Kevin Costner. Heather Headley and Lloyd Owen previously tackled the lead parts in the popular musical. Producers are reportedly eyeing a 2014 Broadway release for the production.
