Heavy metal stars Mastodon have become the latest rockers to create their own line of beer. The musicians, who hail from Atlanta, Georgia, have teamed up with craft beer specialists at the U.K.'s Signature Brew company to come up with Black Tongue ale, which is named after the opening track on their 2011 album The Hunter. The beverage, which features an 8.3 per cent alcohol content, is described by the brewery officials as having "rumbling smoky notes... offset by the elixir of misbehaving punchy hops". A press release reads, "The band wanted to create a 'pallet crusher' and that's certainly what has been delivered. A beer for enjoying slowly, letting the bombardment of flavour and intensity hit your tongue and explode with every sip." Mastodon follow in the footsteps of their rock peers Motorhead and Iron Maiden, who have both scored success with their Bastards Lager and Trooper Ale, respectively.
