Veteran rocker Chrissie Hynde is auctioning off the Q Award trophy she won last month (Oct13) to raise money for an orangutan charity. The Pretenders frontwoman was crowned Classic Songwriter at the prizegiving in London in October (13), and now she has put her trophy up for sale on eBay.co.uk to aid organisers at The Sumatran Orangutan Society (SOS). In a message posted on the auction website, Hynde writes, "As a patron of SOS, I am proud to support their crucial work to protect orangutans, majestic animals on the brink of extinction. The amazing rainforests of Sumatra are the only place in the world where orangutans, tigers, elephants and rhinos are found together, and it is so important to do all we can to save their precious home. Get behind SOS and help save the ultimate Jungle VIPs." In the listing the animal lover adds, "The award is a polished brass Q on a black acrylic polished base, with the following words engraved on the name plate: Q Awards 2013 Classic Songwriter Chrissie Hynde. Bid for your chance to own a unique piece of music history!" The trophy has a starting price of $375 (£250) and the auction ends on 1 December (13). The auction is part of a number of sales organised by the charity - other items up for grabs include dinner with Lost star Dominic Monaghan in Los Angeles and tickets to Russell Brand's comedy concerts.
