Pop superstar Cher put a damper on Thanksgiving celebrations this week (beg25Nov13) by ranting about the annual American holiday to her Twitter.com followers. The Believe singer voiced her opposition to the holiday, which stems from the pilgrims' celebration of their first harvest in America in 1621, and she branded the European colonisation of the country a "great crime". In a series of posts, she writes, "I don't (celebrate Thanksgiving)! (For) me & my family, it's a day, when every1 (one) is free 4 (for) dinner & a movie, not 2 (to) celebrate the beginning of a great crime... Stealing land, from a ppl (people), who believed owning land was like owning (the) sky!"
